The dream of seeing Steph Curry in a Charlotte Hornets’ jersey may have finally come to an end.

It has been a dream for a majority of Charlotte Hornets’ fans to see Steph Curry return to his hometown and play for the local team. It wasn’t necessarily a far-fetched idea since Curry grew up here and became a household name during his run in the NCAA Tournament with Davidson College.

However, that was close to a decade ago and Curry’s opinion has changed in terms of what he views as home. According to Yahoo Sports’ Ben Rohrbach, Curry said in a recent interview on The Bill Simmons Podcast  when asked if he wants to finish his career with the Warriors:

"“For sure I do,” Curry said from Oakland. “This is home. This is where I want to be, for obvious reasons.”"

Those obvious reasons are that Curry is part of one of the greatest teams in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors have reached the NBA Finals each of the past four years, winning the title in three of those trips. He has also won the NBA MVP award twice (2015, 2016) and been named to the All-Star Game five times.

It is hard to imagine, barring significant injuries, that this team is not set up to return to the NBA Finals for the next few years.

The story of Curry joining the Hornets would have certainly been a great one. He would be joining a franchise that his father, Dell Curry, had spent most of his career with. Curry was the franchise leader in point scored up until last year when Kemba Walker passed. He also won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 1994.

Steph Curry’s father is still part of the organization as a member of their broadcast team.

While the door appears to be officially closed on Steph Curry joining the Hornets, for fans that were hoping to see a Curry play for Charlotte again there is always Seth Curry.
