Cameron Artis-Payne

The running back depth chart is very crowded with Christian McCaffrey, C.J. Anderson, Elijah Hood, and Kenjon Barber along with Cameron Artis-Payne. The Panthers will likely only keep three running backs with McCaffrey and Anderson locked in to two of the spots.

This means Hood, Artis-Payne and Barber will be fighting for that final spot and it would not be surprising if Artis-Payne is not the one to win the spot. The former fifth-round pick was not drafted by this front office and has a similar running style to Anderson. The third running back position would likely go to a back that can bring a different look to the position.

The fourth-year running back also had a disappointing performance against the Bills, finishing with only one yard on five carries, which was a team high. It was clear the coaching staff wanted to give him as much work as possible and he wasn’t able to capitalize.

It would not be surprising if Artis-Payne was not with the Panthers Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.
