Can Cam Newton connect with new WRs?

The first preseason game is one that starters typically only play a series or two depending on how the game starts. This game is an interesting one for Cam Newton as he not only will be taking his first live snaps in Norv Turner’s offense but he has a number of new targets to throw to.

The Panthers brought in three wide receivers who could play a significant role in this offense in 2018. The team traded for veteran Torrey Smith and is expected to start opposite Devin Funchess.

In addition to Smith, the Panthers signed free agent Jarius Wright and drafted D.J. Moore in the first round. These two wide receivers are expected to compete for the starting slot receiver position.

It will be interesting to see what connection Newton has already built with these receivers in training camp and how it translates to the field.
