Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver, and current Buffalo Bill, Kelvin Benjamin had some comments about his former team. However, Greg Olsen doesn’t agree with the former first round pick.

On Saturday, The Athletic’s Tim Graham had an interview with Kelvin Benjamin and asked him about his  former team, the Carolina Panthers, and his former quarterback, Cam Newton.

The responses were surprising to say the least.

The following day, tight end Greg Olsen gave his thoughts on Cam Newton and certainly didn’t share the same opinion as his former teammate.

Olsen joined the Carolina Panthers in a trade during the 2011 NFL Draft. This was the same draft the Panthers selected Newton first overall and these two have spent the past seven years together.

As the tight end notes during his interview, Olsen’s production skyrocketed during his time with the Panthers versus his first three years with the Chicago Bears. In the three seasons with the Bears, Olsen averaged 48.5 receptions, 495 receiving yards and five touchdowns per season.

However, in the seven seasons on the Panthers, Olsen has averaged 63.5 receptions, 796.4 receiving yards and 4.7 touchdowns. These numbers would be even higher if last season was not taken into account, a year Olsen missed nine games due to a broken foot.

In his time with the Panthers, the veteran tight end has developed a reputation as one of the most reliable at the position. Prior to the injury, Olsen set an NFL record for tight ends with three consecutive seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards from 2014 to 2016. He earned trips to the Pro Bowls each of those seasons.

These recent comments are sure to add another dimension to the Carolina Panthers first preseason game, when they face off against Benjamin’s current team, the Buffalo Bills. It is hard to imagine there will be too many handshakes before the game for Benjamin with his former teammates.
