1. Julius Peppers

The one player who is almost guaranteed a gold jacket after he retires is defensive end Julius Peppers. He has been one of the best pass rushers in the game since the Panthers selected him second overall in 2002.

Peppers has played for the Panthers, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers before returning back to Carolina last season. Over his career, he has been named as a First-team All-Pro three times, been selected to nine Pro Bowls, and was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2002.

The former UNC Tar Heel has been one of the most consistent pass rushers in the NFL and has had at least seven sacks in 15 of his 16 seasons.

He currently ranks fourth all-time in the NFL in sacks with 154.5 and will only need six this season to surpass Kevin Greene. This is one stat that is pretty telling about a player’s chances of making the Hall of Fame. Of the 10 players with the most sacks in their career, eight have made it to the Hall of Fame with Peppers and DeMarcus Ware (who isn’t eligible yet) as the two not in the Hall.

When Julius Peppers finally decides to hang up his cleats, he should expect to get a call from Canton five years later.
