3. Luke Kuechly

The next person on this list has played alongside Davis the past six seasons and that is middle linebacker Luke Kuechly. Unlike Davis, the former first round pick has won numerous individual awards including NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and then NFL Defensive Player of the Year the following season.

He also has been named to five Pro Bowls and four First-team All-Pro.

When Kuechly is on the field a case could be made that he is the best player on the field at that time, on either side of the ball. He has had over 100 total tackles each of his six seasons and is one of the best linebackers in pass coverage. He currently is fourth in Panthers’ history with 15 interceptions, a remarkable feat for a linebacker.

The concern with Kuechly is whether he will be able to have the longevity necessary to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The star linebacker has had to miss time each of the past three years due to head injuries.

If he is able to produce like he did at the beginning part of his career, and put the head injuries behind him, it would be safe to add another 25% to his chances. However, with three head injuries in consecutive seasons, there is a chance that his career may be cut short.
