Bring in a Free Agent

The starting right tackle position seems to be locked in for Moton, the Panthers could consider bringing in a free agent or two for depth. As mentioned previously, the three other tackles on the roster have zero NFL experience. This has to be a concern, especially if Williams misses any time in the regular season.

I previously looked at some free agents that the Panthers could add prior to training camp. The two players that made sense were Will Beatty and Luke Joeckel. There are concerns with both however both of these tackles have NFL experience and could provide some leadership at the position.

One interesting name still available would be former Texans’ starting right tackle Derek Newton. He started every game for the Texans from 2013 to 2015 but tore both patellar tendons in 2016. He went through rehab all of last year and was cut by the Texans earlier this offseason. He is hoping to return to the NFL and would be worth a flyer if the Panthers want to add experienced depth.
