Carolina Panthers: Predicting the 53-man roster entering training camp
Before the Carolina Panthers take the field for their first practice of training camp, these are the predictions for what the 53-man roster will look like Week 1.
The first sign that football is right around the corner happened on Wednesday as the Carolina Panthers reported to Wofford College for training camp. The Panthers saw their season last year come to a disappointing end with a loss to the New Orlean Saints in the Wild Card Round.
However, they will try to put that in the past and focus on the upcoming season. Even though they didn’t go far in the playoffs, they could make franchise history this year with consecutive winning seasons.
The key figures on this team are back led by head coach Ron Rivera and franchise quarterback Cam Newton, linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis and pass rushers Julius Peppers and Mario Addison.
However, the supporting cast is different with the team entering the year with a new offensive coordinator (Norv Turner) and defensive coordinator (Eric Washington). The Panthers also signed free agents Dontari Poe, C.J. Anderson and Da’Norris Searcy. These players, along with rookies D.J. Moore, Donte Jackson and Rashaan Gaulden are all expected to play key roles this year.
These next few weeks it will be up to the front office and coaching staff to find the best 53 players out of the 90 in training camp. We have helped them with a starting point and these are the predictions for what the 53-man roster will look like when the Carolina Panthers take the field against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.
