Wes Horton

Wes Horton has played his entire career with the Panthers, although he was waived in 2015 after serving a four game suspension for violating the performance enhancing drug policy. Since that time he has signed a one-year deal and is in the second year of his two-year deal with the Panthers.

For Horton, this is a question of available spaces for the depth the Panthers have at defensive end. The team could keep up to five defensive ends and with Julius Peppers, Mario Addison locked in at the top it leaves three positions for likely four players (Horton, Bryan Cox Jr., Daeshon Hall, and rookie Marquis Haynes).

Since the Panthers drafted Hall and Haynes each of the past two years, they will likely earn two of the remaining spots. This will leave a training camp battle between Horton and Cox Jr. and the edge likely going to Cox Jr. since he is younger and will be making less than Horton.
