Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers preview, live stream, odds
By Tim Kaiser
The Carolina Hurricanes head back to New York to play the New York Rangers in Madison Square Garden on Friday night.
The Carolina Hurricanes are looking for a little revenge when they enter Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The Canes were trounced 6-1 on their home ice by the New York Rangers last week . Can the Hurricanes flip the script in their second of four meetings?
It would not be surprising if Cam Ward was in the net against the Rangers. Scott Darling gave up all six goals in that loss last time in Raleigh. Ward’s last start was against the Maple Leafs Nov. 24, and he was pulled for giving up four goals on 16 shots. It might make sense for Bill Peters to give Ward the start in New York and start Darling the next night back in Raleigh against the Panthers.
Henrik Lundqvist is the probable goalie for the Rangers. He was pulled in the first period in their last game against the Panthers after allowing three goals on six shots. Ondrej Pavelec came in and gave up two goals on 21 shots and the Rangers lost 5-4.

This post will be updated when sportsbooks begin releasing the odds for this game. If I had to guess the Rangers will be about a -135 favorite. They have been the better team, are at home, and are coming off the same amount of rest. The fact this is the front end of a back-to-back for the Hurricanes in which they are getting on the plane back to Raleigh for a game Saturday also contributes to their underdog status
Prediction: New York Rangers 3, Carolina Hurricanes 1
