Carolina Hurricanes vs. Columbus Blue Jackets preview, odds, live stream
By Tim Kaiser
The Carolina Hurricanes travel to Columbus to play the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. Can the Canes take the lead in the season series?
The Columbus Blue Jackets (15-8-1) and Carolina Hurricanes (10-8-4) have split their first two contests of a four-game season series. Thus far home ice has meant nothing. Will that hold true in their third meeting?
Columbus took the first meeting 2-1 in overtime in Raleigh in October. Sonny Milano scored his second goal of the game on a breakaway with just 31 seconds left in overtime to win it for the Blue Jackets. Sergei Bobrovsky made 37 saves. Scott Darling made 25 saves.
In the second meeting in Columbus, the Canes turned the tables with a 3-1 win. Jordan Staal led the way with two goals. Cam Ward got the win in goal by stopping 25 of 26 shots.
Darling will look to get to get a little revenge against the Blue Jackets as he will get the start in the net. He has a 2.71 GAA and .901 save percentage on the season.
The Canes will not have to deal with Bobrovsky tonight. The Blue Jackets are coming off a back-to-back and Bobrovsky has started the last eight games. Joonas Korpisalo will start in his place. The 23-year-old goalie was recalled from the AHL on Sunday. He is 1-3 in the NHL with a 3.27 GAA and .896 save percentage.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are favored over the Canes in this game. Their moneyline is -113 against Carolina’s +102. Columbus opened as high as a -142 favorite but dropped significantly throughout the day. This is most likely because Sergei Bobrovsky is not starting. The line has moved that way despite 68 percent of people betting on the Blue Jackets, which means the big bettors in Vegas are on the Hurricanes.
Korpisalo may be the future, but right now he is a rookie making his first start after being recalled from the AHL. When picking a hockey game, give me the better goalie and the reverse line move.
Prediction: Carolina Hurricanes 3, Columbus Blue Jackets 2
