No. 21 Notre Dame 33, North Carolina 10

The Tar Heels’ (1-6, 0-3 ACC) season continued its abysmal path with a 23-point loss to the Fighting Irish (5-1). North Carolina’s defeat marked the third straight for Heels.

Defensively, UNC actually started strong. Notre Dame was forced to punt on its first two drives, and the Heels forced a turnover on downs on the Irish’s third drive. However, the offense didn’t muster any points on the board until after Notre Dame was up by two scores. The flip side of that, however, was that prior to that scoring drive, Myles Dorn picked off Ian Book to put the offense in Irish territory. Dorn finished the game with two interceptions.

Despite those two picks, the Heels lost the turnover battle with a Chazz Surratt interception and fumbles by Surratt and Beau Corrales with the latter coming on the Heels’ last drive of the game.

Surratt finished the game with a lackluster 19 completions on 42 attempts for 179 yards and a touchdown. Surratt also picked up a team-high 32 yards on the ground on 12 carries. Anthony Ratliff-Williams was North Carolina’s leading receiver with five catches for 55 yards and the team’s only touchdown.
