No. 2 Clemson 28, Wake Forest 14

After beginning the season with four straight wins, the Demon Deacons (4-2, 1-2 ACC) dropped its second straight game with a 14-point loss to the second-ranked Tigers (6-0, 4-0 ACC).

As painful as this loss is for the Tie Dye Nation, losing at the hands of the reigning national champions shouldn’t be that unexpected. Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant is one of the best signal callers in the nation. Despite leaving with a sprained ankle in the third quarter, his 200-yard performance on 21-of-29 passing is indicative of said praise.

Already hindered by an injury to starting quarterback John Wolford, Wake surrendered touchdowns on the Tigers’ first two drives. It took the Deacs until the fourth quarter to put its only points on the scoreboard.

Kendall Hinton was serviceable in Wolford’s absence. He finished 14-of-30 with 203 yards and two touchdown passes. Hinton also led the team in rushing with 92 yards on 24 carries. Greg Dortch continued to prove his reliability as a receiver with a team-high five catches for 78 yards.
