The Panthers are currently second in the NFC South with a 2-1 record behind Atlanta (3-0) and ahead of Tampa Bay (1-1) and New Orleans (1-2). Carolina will take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots this upcoming week with a trip to Ford Field in Detroit following that matchup.
So far, there are some promising aspects to the Panthers’ season thus far. Though not as prominent in the running game, McCaffrey has been an effect receiver out of the backfield. The defense looks to be as close to its 2015 counterpart than last year’s squad did. One of the biggest additions in the offseason was Peppers which not only rejuvenated the fan base but also provided a solid veteran on the defensive line that can deliver. He currently leads the team with 2.5 sacks thus far.
It’s almost too soon to tell how the rest of this season will turn out, but the outlook for now appears as though the Carolina Panthers could sneak their way into the playoffs if the offense stays healthy and the defense remains strong.
