  1. The MOAT – Panthers trade up to one to grab Myles Garrett

In this example, the Panthers surrender basically their entire draft to the Cleveland Browns. This is the Mike Ditka going and getting Ricky Williams deal except Myles Garrett might be more stable than Ricky Williams and more important to the Panthers’ overall concept.

What Would It Take?

The first pick in the draft carries the most value in the chart. It is arguably more valuable to quarterback needy teams than its listed value of 3000 points. By comparison, the eighth pick is only worth 1400. That is less than half as much.

All of the Panthers picks combined are worth this (1400+500+270+108+64+30+14+1) = 2387 points. This means the Panthers would have to throw in a future first rounder just to do this. The cost is far too high for this move, and it goes against a lot of what the Panthers believe teambuilding should look like.
