  1. 2016 Sun Bowl

Things don’t get much closer than the 2016 Sun Bowl. It was a game that started off with a dose of disappointment as star running backs Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Hood both missed the game. Instead the fans got to witness a duel between rising quarterback prospect Mitch Trubisky and defensive monster Solomon Thomas.

The Stanford offense was not much to speak of in this game. Their scoring was limited to a trick play, field goals, and a pick six. Trubisky finally got over his nerves and the team started rolling for a response in the second half. They got the game down to two points, and they were lined up for a two point conversion.

There was a miscommunication or something and Thomas came through the line to blow up the two point conversion attempt. It was only a fitting end to his performance for the day even if it left a bad taste in the Tar Heels mouth.

If anyone wonders how the 2017 Tar Heels basketball team got through the NCAA Tournament with a title with weird luck, it is worth pointing out our football team never gets that kind of luck.
