Charlotte Hornets Top Ten Draft Picks Ever 2.0
Number 9: Jamaal Magloire
Drafted: 2000
Pick: 1st Round, 19th Pick
The year is 2000, and the Charlotte Hornets are looking to build enough talent to return to the playoffs in a big way. While the team already had Elden Campbell, it made sense to go big and take Kentucky’s Magloire when he was available in the draft.
The center was a part of the last two Hornets playoff teams at the end of the run when the fans were fed up with George Shinn.
Magloire may have only averaged about six points a game when he was in Charlotte, but he did give the Hornets some increased presence in the paint. He moved into a starting role when the team moved to New Orleans and later made an All-Star team for them.
Things start to pick up from this part of the list on forward. Our love for Kentucky Wildcats still has one more player to go. If Magloire was the end of things, this player was basically the beginning.
