North Carolina Tar Heels: NBA Playoffs Preview
There are nine North Carolina Tar Heels on NBA Playoff Rosters this season.
If you haven’t gotten tired of seeing your favorite North Carolina Tar Heels on the hardwood then I have some good news. There are several Tar Heels players in the NBA playoffs. The bad news is that most of them have bench roles and some of those roles are not very exciting. Let’s see what the matchups have in store for these Heels.
- Golden State Warriors (James Michael McAdoo) vs. Portland Trail Blazers (Ed Davis)
McAdoo has been quieting finding a home on the Warriors. He went from an undrafted rookie who barely played to a guy who now gets about eight minutes every game. McAdoo even started a couple of games this season due to other players resting or injuries. He fits that flexible need the Warriors have for players who can line up at multiple positions. He just never learned to shoot. Fortunately, the Warriors have guys that do that.
Davis is a rotation big man for the Trail Blazers. His role was bigger earlier in the season before the tem went out and got Jusuf Nurkic to man the big center minutes. He plays about seventeen minutes a game. His role is a rebounder and shot blocker, which should make perfect sense for those that remember him at Chapel Hill. Like McAdoo, Davis is not leaned on for scoring and for similar reasons.
Chances that Davis and McAdoo guard each other: decent.
