Charlotte Hornets: The Playoff Party’s Over
That last question is devastating for a Hornets franchise that decided to live and die by the three ball. By comparison, Walker took a career 35% three point percentage (a recent development) and got it up to 40% this season. Belinelli and Williams were the only other players with extended minutes to reach 35% on the season. Kaminsky barely cleared the 33.3% hurdle at 33.8%. Better shooting efficiency is needed across the board.

Back to Batum though. The Frenchman as much admitted it was his fault when he told the Associated Press that he would skip playing with the French National Team this year. His reasoning was that he needed time to himself and work on his individual game to be what the Hornets need him to be.
The final group who has to look at themselves hard is the front office. The Plumlee trade was a clunker of a bad deal that saddles the team with 12.5 million in money that they desperately need to be doing something else with. The front office needs a good lottery result and they need to find at minimum a better second string point guard option. Healthy Sessions wasn’t bad, but will he stay healthy in the future? It is also noteworthy that Belinelli, Sessions, and Christian Wood become expiring deals this summer.

The Hornets have lots to do if they want to salvage this team back into playoff shape. One change they should not make is at the head coach position. Steve Clifford deserves the chance to bring the defensive intensity back to this unit. He made them the lowest turnover producing team on offense this season, so he can still coach the fundamentals – the team must deploy them on defense as well.
