Wake Forest Demon Deacons – Tenth Seed

Record – 18-12, 9-9 ACC

Basic Gist – Wake showed some real growth in Danny Manning’s third year as coach. The team is now basically his players that he recruited and John Collins seems to be the real deal. This team is perched on a possible NCAA berth and should be better next year. They were missing a big win from their resume, but then they beat Louisville. Another one would not hurt.

NCAA Chances – Bubble. Wake needs to advance at least one round in the tournament. The further they go, the better their chances of getting into the field.

Goal – An NCAA Bid

Road to Goal – The Deacs could win the entire tournament to absolutely clinch a tourney spot, but it is much more likely that they just need to win the first two rounds. A loss to Boston College on Tuesday would cause some head scratching. A victory over Virginia Tech would be favorable for the Deacs since they would have beaten the Hokies twice and Virginia Tech is considered a tournament team already by some observers.
