NC State Wolfpack – Thirteen Seed

Record – 15-16, 4-14 ACC

Basic Gist – It all went downhill for the Wolfpack this season. This was the year that the carryovers from the NCAA team two years ago were mated to skilled transfers and one special diaper dandy to at least make it back to the NCAA field. It just never happened. Dennis Smith, Jr. did indeed wind up Freshman of the Year but the team lost too many games by big margins. Coach Mark Gottfried was sacked mid-conference season, but remains to coach the team’s final games.

NCAA Chances – None. State has to win the entire tournament to make the NCAA tournament. While they might have the collective talent to do that, they do not have the cohesiveness to make that happen.

Goal – A Respectable Finish (Possibly Increased Draft Stock for Smith)

Road To Goal – State needs to win their first game against Clemson, but minor redemption would not stop there. They would need a bigger head to display on the mantle. Fifth seed Duke would suffice and the Wolfpack did beat the Devils in Cameron earlier this year. Obviously beating the Tar Heels in the semi-finals would be icing on the cake, but it is hard to see things getting that far.
