2. Right Cornerback – Eric Davis (1996-2000)

Cornerback is fortunate in that there are more than one of them. Current Panthers fans have gotten to know Josh Norman over the course of this season. The Panthers have always valued the cornerback.

They have gone and signed guys like Eric Davis, Doug Evans, and Ken Lucas. They also drafted the likes of Chris Gamble, Richard Marshall, and Norman.

Davis was with the team for four years and the closest thing the franchise had to shutdown corner. He is second in team history in interceptions despite only playing those four seasons. Davis is the reason that Evans and others saw more throws.

Signing Davis was even a big deal. Davis had been with the Super Bowl contender San Francisco 49ers and his choice to sign with the Panthers was something of a revelation that the team really was big time. Davis was part of the 1996 squad that lost to Brett Farve and the Packers in the NFC Championship.
