Carolina Panthers: All Time Roster 3.0
25. Halfback – DeAngelo Williams (2006-2014)
If I had to pick one season had by a Carolina tailback, it would be Stephen Davis from 2013. However Williams owns all the important marks for Carolina Panthers running backs. The team decided that he had become too much of an injury risk in the off season, but Williams continues to produce for the Pittsburgh Steelers this year.
He had 6,846 rushing yards to lead all Panthers rushers. He is fourth in points scored behind only Steve Smith and two kickers. There have been other notable Panthers tailbacks like Jonathan Stewart, but none as the complete resume of Williams, yet.
Running back has been a position of short term players. Anthony Johnson was the back in 1996 and did not do much after. Davis was really good for about a year or so. Tshimanga Biakabutuka could never stay healthy. This is why the length of Williams’ production is so crucial to him getting this spot.
