19. Left Tackle – Jordan Gross (2003-2013)

So who did the Panthers miss more, Steve Smith or Jordan Gross? Is it strange that both of these guys came from the University of Utah?

You would be hard pressed to pick against Gross. He remained a fixture on the line for a decade. He held the blind side for the Jake Delhomme years all the way to first couple Cam Newton years. That allowed Newton to develop and be able to do the things he does now.

Gross was also a run blocker, around for the 2009 season where both DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart both had a thousand yards rushing. There were others like Blake Brockermeyer or Todd Steussie that played this spot, but none were quite as woven into the Panthers fabric as Gross.

It seems so odd nowadays to see Gross performing as a sideline reporter after losing all of the weight that he used to carry as a lineman.
