NC State finds itself caught in the midst of two of the most cherished events of December: Christmas and college football bowl mania.

Christmas is heralded as the most wonderful time of the year, at least according to Andy Williams. In the world of college football, however, many would argue that bowl season is the reason to get excited.

As the Wolfpack (6-6, 3-5 ACC) finds itself playing in the Camping World Independence Bowl on December 26, Wolfpack fans may have many reasons to celebrate this holiday. In the spirit of Christmastime and bowl camaraderie, I present “The Twelve Days of PACKmas.”

12. As in, 2012

NC State will face a familiar foe in Shreveport, La. on Monday. Vanderbilt (6-6, 3-5 SEC) was selected to oppose the Wolfpack after encountering the Commodores in the 2012 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl in Nashville. With interim head coach Dana Bible at the helm and newly-hired head coach Dave Doeren in attendance, State faltered in what was essentially a road game, 38-24.
