N.C. State Wolfpack: Updates in the NBA
T.J. Warren is a rising star in the NBA right now. Some people refer to him as ‘Tony Buckets’ due to his ability to score a lot of points (buckets).
At the moment, T.J. Warren is the only former basketball player from N.C. State in the NBA. Needless to say, you can call him ‘The Lone Wolf.’
T.J. Warren grew up on ‘Tobacco Road’ in Durham, North Carolina. He was recruited by several schools including North Carolina, Georgetown, North Carolina State University and several others.
Warren played an impressive two years for the North Carolina State Wolfpack from 2012 to 2014. Warren was a member of the ACC All-Freshmen team in 2013. In addition, he was the 2014 ACC Player of the Year. As a sophomore, Warren averaged 24.9 points and 7.1 rebounds for the Wolfpack. After his sophomore season at N.C. State, Warren went pro to the NBA.

Warren was selected as the No. 14 overall pick by the Phoenix Suns in the 2014 NBA Draft. Currently, Warren has started imposing his will on the NBA. Warren leads the Phoenix Suns in scoring with 21.2 points per game and in shooting percentage (50.7%).
Warren should not come as a surprise to many people. His talent spoke for itself when he was a college basketball player.
Warren has gotten off to a great start this season. In Phoenix’s first four games, Warren has scored in double figures in each game. In the first game against the Sacramento Kings, Warren scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and had two steals. When Phoenix played gainst the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warren finished the game with 30 points, nine rebounds, three steals and one assists. Warren set his career high in points in the game against the OKC Thunder.

Against the Golden State Warriors, Warren had 26 points, six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal. In the fourth game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Warren finished the game with 15 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Warren shoots 50.6% from the field, 30% from three-point range and 81% from the free throw line. T.J. Warren ranks 20th in scoring and 39th in field goal percentage. Although Warren is a sleeper pick to make the 2017 NBA All-Star game, his current numbers warrant consideration for this accolade.
