The North Carolina Tar Heels reentered the rankings  this week and have reason to believe that they will stay there.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are both looking up and also facing some difficulty coming into this weekend’s game against Virginia. On the one hand, the team again pulled off an important victory over another Coastal Division rival, Miami. Syracuse delivered an additional gift by defeating Virginia Tech. Miami ironically could provide the deciding blow to the Hokies if the Tar Heels take care of business against the Cavaliers.

Bad news also came. Mack Hollins suffered a broken collarbone in the Miami game. It takes the best known deep threat out of the Tar Heels’ arsenal. Beyond Hollins, the Heels have tried to beat teams with Austin Proehl and Ryan Switzer to mixed results. That now becomes the status quo.

What did the team gain from their thrilling victory over Miami? They reentered the polls at number twenty-two.

The other good news for the Tar Heels is that the schedule kind of eases up. They can’t breathe too easy or else they will trip up. NC State will no doubt give a big game at the end of the year. Georgia Tech has been a stumbling block in the past. Virginia, Duke, and the Citadel are the others. The Tar Heels are in the driver seat in the Coastal if they can keep it up.
