Ron Rivera on the hot seat?

Carolina’s only way of making the playoffs will be to win the rest of their NFC South Division games. Some people may think that Ron Rivera’s coaching job being questioned is far-fetched. Keep in mind, we are talking about the NFL.

Yes, Rivera coached the Carolina Panthers to a Super Bowl last season. Yes, Carolina’s starting quarterback has been injured this season. However, these two things have little to do with the defense. Luke Kuechly has been playing every game this season and continues to play at a high level despite Carolina having a 1-5 record.

Unfortunately, professional sports have a culture where the head coach is on the chopping block when their team does not play well; whether they deserve to be fired or not.

I do not think that Rivera deserves to be fired. However, if Carolina does not make the playoffs do not be surprised if there is a new coach next season.
