Cam Newton Is Not The Same

If you look at Cam Newton’s stats, the numbers say that he played well. Newton completed 27 of 47 passes for 322 yards with two touchdowns and one interception along with two rushes for one yard and one touchdown. Three touchdowns is a good thing, right?

They are. However, the entire game was a debacle for the Carolina Panthers. Carolina struggled moving the ball in the first quarter. At one point, New Orleans led 21-0 in the first half. Despite Carolina scored 10 points in the second quarter, they were losing 24-10 at halftime.

Newton does not seem like himself in the pocket. He holds onto the ball too long and takes sacks when he should run for a first down. Moreover, Newton seems like he is apprehensive to run.

Newton was the NFL MVP last season. He was the best player in the NFL every game last season. No team could stop him, until he faced the Broncos in the Super Bowl.

This season, it seems like every team has Newton’s number. The offense seems out of sync and Newton is not playing as good as last season.

As Newton goes, the Carolina Panthers go. He is their leader and heartbeat. Gut check time.
