The walking MASH unit known as the Carolina Panthers may be two bigger steps closer to full strength.
The Carolina Panthers may possibly get back two of their best players on Sunday. Cam Newton and Jonathan Stewart are poised for returns against the New Orleans Saints. USA Today reported this on October 12, 2016.
Both Newton and Stewart were present at the Carolina Panthers’ football practice on Thursday. Currently, Newton is listed a questionable to play on Sunday.
Newton and Stewart are needed on offense. The Carolina Panthers have not had a consistent running back all season. Newton has been the primary rusher for the majority of the games this season. Their chemistry on offense is electric. When both players are present on the field, the Carolina Panthers are difficult to stop.
Newton sustained a concussion when he was running for a two-point conversion. For most quarterbacks, limiting the amount of running plays for your quarterback would fix this issue. For Newton, this is not the case. Although he is not a prototypical ‘mobile’ quarterback, he has the ability to scramble out of the pocket.

Newton can hurt defenses with his arm and his feet. Last season, he won the NFL MVP award due to his impressive season. Newton was practically unstoppable until he faced the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl.
On Sunday, Newton gets Stewart back in the backfield. Stewart’s presence will alleviate running responsibilities for Newton. In addition, the emergence of Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whittaker gives the Carolina Panthers a three-headed monster in the backfield.
It would behoove the Carolina Panthers to utilize their running backs more on offense, in addition to protecting Cam Newton more. Monday night’s loss to Tampa Bay illustrates Newton’s importance for the Panthers. If Newton does not play, then the Carolina Panthers have little to no chance of winning games.
