The North Carolina A&T Aggies received sole inclusion from the state in the first preseason top 25 poll of the year.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies can make one claim that is similar to their FBS Tar Heel brethren. They too are ranked in the first Coaches Poll. This Coaches Poll is the FCS one and finds the Aggies down at twenty-fifth. They are pretty lonely done there too as no other North Carolina FCS school is there to join them.

If one peers at the other schools that received votes, you can find North Carolina Central down there. The Eagles got eight votes from coaches to gain a mention not a spot in the poll.

Perhaps this should not be too surprising. The state lost two potential FCS poll options when Appalachian State and Charlotte left the division two years ago. Perhaps all that is needed is time for another local school to raise its head and crash the FCS party.

The Aggies open their season against St. Augustine’s on the third of September. From there we will just have to see if they can trek up the poll. They will face tests against FBS foes Kent State and Tulsa on the way before settling down into MEAC play.
