Kawann Short had an outstanding 2016 season for the Carolina Panthers. He was rewarded in Madden 17 for his effort with a top five rating amongst all defensive tackles. In fact, Short is the fifth-highest rated defensive tackle with an overall rating of 92. This may not sound like a big deal to you, but look at it from this perspective. Miami’s Ndamukong Suh is the fourth-highest rated defensive tackle in the game, one spot ahead of Short with an overall rating of 93.

Short is a great second option to use on defense, if you want someone on defensive line. I suggest switching to Short when your opponent needs a few yards for a first down or in goal line formations.

Another ideal time to use Short would be when your opponent is passing; in particular, long distance downs. If you start the play using Short, approach your offensive lineman at an angle so you can get through the line of scrimmage for a sack or batted-down pass. Also, you can start off a play by using another player then switch to Short when you see him closing in on the quarterback. Either way, you can rack up some sacks and turnovers by using Short.
