Newton is the second-highest rated quarterback with an overall rating of 94. Green Bay’sAaron Rodgersis the highest-rated quarterback with an overall rating of 96. Although their throwing power is about the same, Newton edges out Rodgers with his speed (86) and elusiveness (87).
In other words, Newton is the perfect quarterback to use if you like to scramble a lot or if you like to keep your opponents guessing on defense with his ability to throw on the run. Newton has an 89 rating for acceleration in the open field. As soon as he breaks the line of scrimmage, Newton will be difficult to catch.
You can really do some damage on the joysticks if you fake a quarterback sneak and throw the ball to an open receiver. You have to throw the ball before crossing the line of scrimmage. Make sure you do not overuse this strategy, because good Madden players will catch on to what you are doing.
