Benjamin missed all of last season due to tearing his ACL in Panthers’ training camp a year ago. Stephen Hill is another wide receiver on the Panthers’ roster. Similar to Benjamin, Hill tore his ACL a year ago also.

More from Carolina Panthers

According to the Charlotte Observer, Benjamin will not wear a knee brace this upcoming season. In preparation for the four NFL Preseason games, Benjamin focused on strengthening his thighs and glutes. By doing so, Benjamin ensures that his left knee will be strong enough to endure all four preseason games.

Benjamin told the Charlotte Observer:

"“I think you take it for granted. Once you are having a little success and something happens to you, it sits you down and lets you see that something can go wrong just like that.”"

Despite losing Benjamin for the season, the Carolina Panthers managed to go 15-1 during the regular season en route to a berth in Super Bowl 50. As a rookie, Benjamin emerged as one of Newton’s favorite receivers.

This season, Benjamin will be a nice addition to an offense that was focused primarily around Cam Newton last season. Newton was responsible for over 70% of the Carolina Panthers’ offense. Benjamin’s presence will help reduce the load that Newton carried last season, in addition to creating a more balanced offensive attack for the Panthers.

Next: Rationale for Return

Panthers fans can know look to the preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens as the first chance to see Benjamin on the field again.
