Former North Carolina Tar Heels forward James Michael McAdoo was signed a new deal with the Warriors.

The number of former North Carolina Tar Heels on the Golden State Warriors was reduced when the time signed Kevin Durant. That required Harrison Barnes to find a new home. However the Warriors may have acted to keep a Carolina presence on the team. They have agreed to bring back James Michael McAdoo for another year at the league minimum according to reports from Rusty Simmons of SFGate.com.

The Warriors are stacked with a number of big contracts at the top and that has eaten away at their depth. Marreese Speights left for the Los Angeles Clippers. The team made no effort to bring back Festus Ezeli. Instead they brought in veteran David West. They will fill out the rest of the roster by signing players making the minimum.

This is where McAdoo comes in. The former Tar Heel player has played a little in the past two seasons for the Warriors, but he does know the team and expectations involved. It makes sense for both sides to bring him back. It is still unlikely that his minutes improve that much. McAdoo will be used as an emergency player for injuries.

Meanwhile there is still one Tar Heel who notably does not have a contract. That would be point guard Ty Lawson. Lawson did not do much off the bench for the Pacers after he was unable to mesh with James Harden and the Rockets. His availability may also have to with his DUI issues from the previous off season.

Next: Barnes to Dallas

One would believe that Lawson is too skilled to get no look at all, but the NBA is a fickle mistress. So keep your eye on the speedster getting some small prove contract somewhere before all is said and done. That would enable him to hit free agency again next year with more leverage.
