10. Left Outside Linebacker – Thomas Davis (2005-)

Thematically it would make sense to take another 3-4 rusher for this spot opposite Greene, but Thomas Davis possesses the best body of work of any Carolina linebacker to date. The man who was once drafted to spy Michael Vick and ripped up his knee three times has become the NFL Man of the Year and the Panthers’ leading tackler in team history.

Davis continues to motor in his tenth year in the league. He might have extra tread on the tires since he was lost for about three years in there, but he goes everywhere on the field. Davis also owns some key plays during this year, like his interception of Aaron Rodgers to beat the Packers.

Will Witherspoon and Lamar Lathon would have been next and they two opposite species of linebacker. Davis is the closest we can get to a mesh of these. This also means the Panthers could potentially display the Beason-Davis-Kuechly linebacker corps that some of us dreamed about.
