The NC State Wolfpack padded their new pro total by adding three undrafted free agents.

NC State Wolfpack football had a pretty good weekend as they got three men drafted into the NFL. The biggest pick was probably the first one, lineman Joe Thuney.

Thuney would have been a good pick up for just about any team since he had played all five line positions over the course of his playing career. However Thuney, Jacoby Brissett, and Juston Burris will not be only players trying to make NFL rosters this season.

Nope, they will be joined by undrafted free agent pickups. So let’s look at these additional Wolfpackers are.

Pittsburgh Steelers

OL Quinton Schooley

Green Bay Packers

TE David Grinnage

New York Giants

DE Mike Rose

The landing spots for these guys are pretty good. The Green Bay Packers are always looking for production from the tight end position. In the past it was Jermichael Finley and last year it was Richard Rodgers. Grinnage will fit nicely in providing a big target for Aaron Rodgers to hit in the seam.

Likewise Rose landed well. The Giants built their franchise off of the defensive line and the pass rush. They are always looking to retool that formula and players who can make that happen. Rose fits in to that mindset and could contribute for this team.

Schooley is also a good fit for the Steelers. The Steelers want to run and they need someone who keep a mobile quarterback alive. Schooley was a part of doing both of those things at NC State. He’ll even have the advantage of doing it for Ben Roethlisberger and LeVeon Bell, two of the best in the business.

Next: Add Burris to the Drafted

When the Wolfpack look back at the 2016 NFL class, they will probably focus on the draftees. However the undrafted guys may be in just as good positions to get their careers started.
