The awkward positioning of the thirty-first pick makes it hard to move up or down from that particular spot. The most likely scenario is the Panthers taking someone at thirty-one. Gettleman has proven not to be shy about taking his man even if the value is not quite there. Last year he took Shaq Thompson which surprised some people who believed Thompson was a second round pick.

The other options are more exciting perhaps, but this the NFL. Teams do not do exciting things if they can help it.

So prepare for a long night Thursday since the Panthers will almost be the last team called to the podium. Prepare to learn some foreign sounding name like Germain Ifedi or Emmanuel Ogbah. Or prepare to scratch your head when you hear the name Kendall Fuller and wonder if it was too soon.
