Duke Blue Devils Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram found their way to multiple award lists from the ACC.

The North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils, NC State Wolfpack and Wake Forest Demon Deacons all got their voices heard when the ACC postseason team awards were announced today. NC State had a 1st Team All-ACC guy while Wake put a guy on the All-Freshman Team. The Tar Heels and Blue Devils doted several of the teams.

Wake Forest put freshman Bryant Crawford on the All-Freshman team while senior Devin Thomas was an honorable mention for the All-ACC list.

NC State put Anthony Barber on the All-ACC First Team. Barber was the fifth highest vote getter which denied him a shot at Player of the Year. That went to Malcolm Brogdon of Virginia.

Duke had the most inclusions on the teams as a whole. Guard Grayson Allen made the All-ACC First Team while freshman Brandon Ingram made the Second Team. Ingram also made the All-Freshman Team and won ACC Freshman of the Year. Allen also received the ACC Most Improved Player Award.

The North Carolina Tar Heels put Brice Johnson on the All-ACC First Team and the ACC All Defensive Team. The only other award was when Isaiah Hicks was granted the Sixth Man of the Year Award. Johnson tied with Brogdon in overall vote count, but lost the tiebreaker.

More from Old North Banter

Given the type of season it was in the ACC, it should not be surprising that no school dominated the postseason lists. It foretells a highly competitive tournament that starts tomorrow as NC State takes on Wake Forest in a battle of teams looking for some silver lining to their cloudy seasons.

Duke will be waiting to take on the winner of that match and try to improve its NCAA Tournament positioning in the process. Of course if the games work out, Duke would gain a rubber match with North Carolina in the fourth round (provided a win against Duke animus Notre Dame).

North Carolina will be sitting idle for the first two days before getting Syracuse or Pitt in round three. The Tar Heels are looking for an NCAA one seed which they will likely only get if they survive longer than Virginia in the tournament. That means either beating the Cavaliers in the finals, or hoping someone like Miami can take them out as they have done before.

There will be a lot going on in Washington D.C. this week. Congratulations to Allen and all the other ACC Postseason Award winners.
