Charlotte Hornets: Keep Winning in Philly
The Charlotte Hornets continued to win the games that they are supposed to when they visited Philadelphia last night.
For the Charlotte Hornets the answer was simple. You go into Philadelphia and you win. In the middle of a drive to the playoffs there are no benefits to a loss to a team that is yet to see ten wins and is the first team mathematically eliminated from playoff competition. The Hornets did not disappoint, gathering a 119-99 win on the anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain scoring a hundred points in a game.
The formula got some revisions in this game. The last few Hornets wins had been games where Kemba Walker pumped in the points while Al Jefferson brought the energy from the bench. Jefferson was relatively quiet last night (six points), but Walker was still dialed in. He finished with thirty points, but not the pail full of assists from previous wins.
Nicolas Batum still collected his role as distributor by getting seven assists of his own to supplement twelve points. Where Lamb had been a big player against the Suns, this time the big Jeremy off the bench was Lin with fourteen points.
Cody Zeller filled Al’s scoring role for this night. Zeller attacked the post. He drew fouls and made nine of ten free throws. He finished with fifteen while the other man in the post Marvin Williams stretched the defense for a couple of three point baskets and fourteen total points.

It was a busy night for Nerlens Noel on defense as he and Jeremy Grant tried to contain those two and backup center Frank Kaminsky. Noel and Grant both picked up four fouls. Jahlil Okafor was held out of the game for injury.
So the Hornets are now set up for another big game for the playoff race. The Pacers, who the Hornets beat on their road trip, will be coming to Charlotte. Indiana is half a game back of the Hornets while the Hornets are half a game back of the Atlanta Hawks. For musical chairs to work in their favor, the Hornets must beat Indiana for the third time since February 1st.
That game takes place tomorrow.
