The North Carolina Tar Heels football program found itself nestled at number 15 in the final AP Poll rankings of the year. After losses to Clemson and Baylor that is probably right for the 11-3 Heels. A place in the postseason top 25 is not quite a guarantee of a preseason ranking next year, but it is a good indication.

In the others receiving votes section, Appalachian State garnered seven votes and the Duke Blue Devils took three more. It will be interesting to see how the polls treat Appalachian State in the upcoming season with their two big offensive weapons returning from a Sun Belt campaign that nearly saw them champions in only their second year in the league.

From here the college football season comes to an end. The next event on the college football calendar is National Signing Day in February. Until then the focus moves over to college basketball as the conference schedules heat up for the many teams of Division 1.

Duke and North Carolina both carry ranked basketball teams at the moment and both have started undefeated in ACC play. One is betting on experience while the other is betting on talented youth. White is black, black is white.

Did I mention the Heels play State on Saturday?
