While using Tolbert allows the Panthers to keep the physical nature of their running attack, Whittaker has been more of a third down back. The Panthers could increase his role to being a passing situation back and running more draws.

Whittaker has been at his best as a change of pace back that opposing defenses haven’t really seen coming. This will be doubly true if the Panthers give a bigger role to Tolbert. He really does not register that high on the list of players that a defense is prepared for.
