First was the lack of succession plan for star quarterback Shane Carden. The intended successor Kurt Benkert got injured. Blake Kemp played well in spots, but the Pirates fell in love with running threat James Summers after the Virginia Tech game and picking between the two disjointed the offensive identity of the team.
