3. Pipe dreaming
The Knicks are trying to build a triangle offense team. Getting Carmelo to buy into that kind of ball movement may not be easy. It would be easier to accomplish with more flexible pieces like Batum and Williams. The Knicks have also been trying to get their salary situation straight, and Anthony’s contract would offer them a bunch of freedom to build in the next off season.

For the Hornets, Anthony would build instant interest in the team. Ticket sales would go up. Anthony’s personal rivalries with other NBA superstars would build hype. More games would get televised. It would be great for business.
