Charlotte 49ers vs Temple Owls Preview
The Charlotte 49ers have found conference play to be a harsh mistress. They were used as clinic material for Middle Tennessee State in one of the worst welcomes to Conference USA that you can ask for. Last week was a little more digestible, losing to the Florida Atlantic Owls by ten. Maybe the 49ers need a break from the conference. Who’s up this week? The Temple Owls? Great…

X – Who is the quarterback again?
The 49ers continued their shuffle of quarterbacks by handing the ball to Lee McNeill against Florida Atlantic. McNeill found the FAU Owls four times with interceptions. Hopefully the kinks have been worked out so that he does not find the Temple Owls the same way. If not McNeill then Charlotte again needs some stability at the position.

Y – Stop giving the ball away
The 49ers followed a turnover fest against Middle Tennessee with seven against the Owls of Florida Atlantic. The 49ers are not going to make any headway if they cannot keep the ball. Remember they are playing a Temple team that beat both Cincinnati and Penn State on the season so far. These Owls will not be nice enough to return the favor like FAU did on five occasions in the last game.
Z – Hello Khalif Phillips
If there was one good thing about the FAU game, it was the performance of running back Khalif Phillips. Phillips had 165 yards on the ground. That total allowed the 49ers to outgain Florida Atlantic in the total yards department. Phillips also can take some of the pressure off the rotating quarterback machine in front of him. A good ball control game featuring Phillips may be the only way to beat Temple.
Prediction: 50-10 Temple
Temple is too good. See you next week.
