AP Football Poll Week 3: State, Duke Receive Votes
The AP Football Poll for Week 3 is out today, and there is not a lot of good news for the programs of North Carolina. For the second straight week, there are no teams in the poll. However there was new action going on at the back end of the poll where the Duke Blue Devils gained some votes for the first time and the NC State Wolfpack added some more votes as well.
The main poll pushed out some of the SEC teams who were dwelling in the bottom third of the poll, but their preference for the Power 5 as a whole remains. This weak BYU became the token member of the non Power 5 teams after a victory against Boise State, which exited the poll.

The poll also points out at interesting trends. Northwestern will probably be ranked when Duke plays them, which means they are a chance for Duke to show it is a bigger time team than their current schedule will allow.
The Temple Owls are sitting on the cusp of the poll after a victory against Cincinnati. Temple now looks to be a big threat in the American Athletic Conference, where UCF and Cincy have taken a step back early in the year. That could be very important for now 1-1 ECU heading into the conference season.
