PREVIEW: NC STATE v. Eastern Kentucky
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels (1-0) travel south to play the NC State Wolfpack (1-0) on Saturday evening at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina. The game will feature two unbeatens in what should be an interesting test for both teams coming off lopsided wins. The Colonels, ranked #19 in the latest FCS Coaches (1-AA) poll beat Valparaiso 52-10 in their season opener last weekend. The Wolfpack, fresh off its 49-21 ripping of Troy, received votes in both of the latest FBS polls.
The Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) team from Richmond, Kentucky held Valpo to 38 yards rushing and 1.3 yards per carry. Quarterback Bennie Coney threw for two touchdowns and completed 11 of 20 passes for 153 yards with no interceptions. The Colonels are led by senior running back and Preseason Player of the Year in the Ohio Valley Dy’Shawn Mobley.

As for the Pack, this game represents the second in their series of four winnable games that would set up the October 3, 2015 meeting in Raleigh against the Louisville Cardinals. Anything short of a 4-0 record heading into that game would be a monumental disappointment for the Wolfpack Nation and I hope the team realizes that.

UPDATE:
5-Star basketball recruit Dennis Smith committed to NC State. The 6-foot-2 and 190 pound Fayetteville (NC) native was one of two 5-Star players that Wolfpack coach Mark Gottfried heavily targeted. Now, the Bam Adebayo watch is on as the 6’9, 232lb. big man from Pinetown, N.C makes his decision. Smith and Adebayo, close friends, were widely regarded as a package deal to the team lucky enough to land them. It appears that team may be the Pack! Just another step in trying to take over the Atlantic Coast Conference.
