The special teams play was just as bad as midseason last year

Outside of Ted Ginn being the usual good returner that he is the special teams drastically under performed last night. They were missing tackles on punt coverage, leaving holes for returners to run through, and the punter was kicking line drives to the other team. Hopefully last night was rust needing to be shaken off or this team is in trouble when it comes to special teams this season. I expected a better performance but instead I was treated to much of the same as last season. The additions made in the offseason to address this area of need so far looks to not be panning out. I always remind myself and others though that this is just preseason. Most of the players playing in the preseason will not make the final cut and coaches couldn’t care less about preseason records.
