1 Seed CAM NEWTON over 5 Seed Thomas Davis

Super Cam really is the defining feature of the Rivera Era. His first game as a rookie resulted in a four hundred yard performance. The kinds of things that Newton is asked to do have changed over the years, but he still is the engine of the Panthers offense. Davis, as a linebacker, just does not have quite the influence that Newton does.

2 Seed LUKE KUECHLY over 3 Seed Dave Gettleman

This will set up the matchup that we really wanted, Newton vs Kuechly. What Newton is for the offense, Kuechly is for the defense. Neither player was drafted by Gettleman, so he can only take credit for negotiating Newton’s extension.
