2 Seed DOM CAPERS over 15 Seed Chad Cota

Capers was the coach who got the Panthers their first playoff win. He was valued enough that the team lost a draft pick to get him. Cota may have been a bright spot on those teams, but he signed with the enemy.

7 Seed KERRY COLLINS over 10 Seed Lamar Lathon

Lathon had one really good year for the Panthers, but it was Collins who changed the fortunes of the team during the 1995 season. The team started the season winless and went 7-9 soon after Collins became the starter. Collins may have left the team in a ugly manner, but he had the better numbers than the injured Lathon.

3 Seed BILL POLIAN over 14 Seed Eric Davis

I really like the original brain trust of the Panthers. Polian’s Hall of Fame entry does not hurt either. Between the Bills and the Colts, his time with the Panthers might get overlooked. Sadly the undercard of this bracket may not be nearly as exciting as the matchups above.

11 Seed WESLEY WALLS over 6 Seed Vic Fangio

Of course Wesley Walls could change all that. The pass catching tight end was the main offensive weapon of note during his entire time here. Vic is still out there coaching, but he did not own the Sports section in the same way Walls did. Two upsets in the region? Too many? Too few?
